This is the 5th Odelia Grey book that I've read and it just left me hungry for more. I love a character who is real. Humor along with a great mystery. My favorite kind of book.

There was a huge gap of time between my reading of book 3 and the reading of book 4 then I jumped right into book 5, this book.

I am not sure what stalled my interest in this series, but I wrote all that to say reading book 4 and esp book 5 made me all excited about this series again.

Odelia is a remarkable character, strong, loyal, smart. In this we find out her father died a few months ago, and in his papers Odelia finds information on her long ago runaway mother. So Odelia heads back to the East Coast to find some answers, mainly why did you just up at leave me when I was 16?
What she finds is her mother in a corn maze covered in blood over a dead man. The tangled web of deceit is puzzle til the end. No one is telling the truth and Odelia's mother isnt talking to anyone about what happened in that corn maze. It is the many layered mysteries that also make this series fun. They are not too easily solved, and no real red herrings thrown in, just usually a busy bunch of characters and a final show down.

So Now I wish I had book 6, 7, and 8 to keep reading.

This is my favorite book in this series to date. Odelia Grey, the main character, travels to New England to find her mother who suddenly abandoned her when Odelia was 16 years ago. She finds her mother, and so much more ... the first time Odelia sees her in 34 years, her mother is bending over a dead body in a corn maze and has blood on her hands!

In this book, we meet several members of Odelia's extended famiy and spend considerable time with a friend from a previous book; Odelia's husband Greg also gets in on the action of solving the corn maze murder. The entire plot happens in Massachusetts so Odelia's job, boss, friends, and pets are not part of this book, but I'm sure we'll reconnect with them in the next book in the series.
