Sutton McPhea became a crime reporter because she wanted to investigate her sister's murder after believing that the police were going down the wrong path. She was proven right as she found the people who killed her sibling. Now, she seeks justice for other homicide victims even as she gets an adrenaline rush each time she works a good story. Her current assignment for the Washington News is the case of the senator's aide, found dead in the woods, wrapped in a sheet.
While chasing down her leads, Sutton finds another juicy homicide to investigate. Wheelchair-bound Helen Taylor, the revered wife of county supervisor Hubbard Taylor, has been murdered. Apparently, Helen knew her attacker. Soon, Sutton's informant is found dead, leading the intrepid reporter to realize her cases are related with a powerful politico insuring that no one interferes with his career.

As armchair detectives go, the Sutton McPhee mysteries is one of the best because they have intricate puzzles to be solved by the reader. CORRUPTION OF FAITH is one of Brenda English's premium tales because the dark side of the DC political atmosphere is brilliantly described. The protagonist, a down to earth person, adds much to the story, leading to readers wanting to buy this novel and previous entries in the series.
