A young boy wanted to learn all he could about nature so one day he could become a conservationist, but life on the mountain didn't teach him everything he needed - like reading and writing. He would have to go to school for that. Suddenly a wounded red-tailed hawk becomes part of his life and everything changes. The hawk teaches the young boy about friendsip, reading, and writing and even a little about God.
