This is the second of three stories in this series about Haywire, Texas. It is a light-hearted yarn about a mistaken marriage between a rancher and a Boston woman (in the judge's office to marry her mail-order husband). Why they stayed married past the time the judge returned to Haywire (on that Friday) is a bit sketchy, but otherwise, the story fit together fairly well. I was also surprised by the long reach of the financial institutions in America at the time. It was odd to learn that ranchers got loans from Boston businesses, rather than someplace closer, like Chicago or Denver.
