This book was very hard to read. It was a slow moving story and at times I struggled to finish it. I have a vow to finish every book I start, but this one tempted me many times to break that vow and stop the torture. I think I would much rather have my eyes gouged out versus having to read this again.

A "mixed marriage": What does that mean today? Sarah Friedman, raised as an observant Jew in New York City, falls for Ben Lonefeather, a man not only a gentile, but a Navajo. The phrase "two different worlds" comes to mind, and, when her parents are confronted with the seriousness of the situation, so does "worlds collide" and "it will kill your mother." The two meet when Sarah travels to the Southwest as buyer of Native American art for the family business. Car trouble near a Navajo reservation causes her path to cross with that of Ben, an artist who has been caring for the coyote pups he rescued after their mother was killed by a car. Wildly different geographies, backgrounds, and cultures cannot deter the couple's passionate, almost preordained, connection. Love versus familial duty is the crux of the matter, and while some readers may find the Jewish family's responses a bit stereotypical and its demands somewhat skin-deep (circumcision), others will cheer this cross-cultural romance,

Really loved this book! The chemistry between Ben and Sarah was great. It really tugs at your emotions; some parts you are happy and laughing, and other parts will have you on the verge of tears. Definitely worth picking up.

For Sarah Friedman the chance to journey to the southwest to buy native Indian aert for her family's successful New York store comes at a time pf personal transition. Determined to put aside romantic disappointments, she seeks new perspectivies in the serenity of the vast desert landscape. Then her car breaks down near the home of a solitary artist on the Navajo reservation. This was a lovely read- funny, suspensful, and love forced to choose between love and duty commitment and freedom they learn to fight for what matters. I loved this read.
