I printed out a label today for one book using DC as is my custom.

Hours later, I received a bulk request for two books - so I printed out the label with DC.

It was not until the 2nd label was printed that I saw that all three books were ordered by the same person.  Of course, I am going to send all three in the same package - thus, I have paid 27 cents for a DC that is not going to be used for this particular shipment.

My questions are these:  Can I use the unneeded DC and tape it to my next label (which I would print out without DC)? Does the DC bar code  "direct" the package to its destination or is it simply the means by which the package can be tracked?

I figured if I could use it, it would give me instant credit for a different book than what is actually in the package - a credit I wouldn't ordinarily get until the original recipient gets her 3 books.  But then I wondered if recycled DC bar code might cause the package to go to the wrong address.

Thanks in advance .

The DC code doesn't direct it to the destination, it is just confirmation of delivery.  So you could cut out & used the unneeded DC on a different package.  What I would suggest you do is use the label for the 2 bulk order for that order (since that book info is "linked" to that DC in the system & will result in getting you the 2 credits once scanned) .  You could use the other DC for a future shipment but keep in mind that it wouldn't be valid for instant credit for That shipment since it has already been linked in the PBS system to the original book order, but it would still give you the info of delivery confirmation.

so it won't cause the books to go to different addresses, but it may muddy up when you get your credits a little bit

Thanks for the responses.  If I get another order in the next day or two, I'll use it.....otherwise, I'll chalk it up to the cost of my ongoing "PBS education".  lol
