About a doctor who violated the innocent trust of unknowing naive woman.
It's horrible that it happened, but great that he was brought to justice. Great read for lovers of the true crime genre.
Incredible. Horrific. True.
Frightening. Gripping. Amazing.
This is the true story of a doctor who was accused of raping many of his patients.
Most of the town believed him.
Very few people believed the victims, all 100+ of them.
I am sad for these women, who fought for justice. The victims lost jobs, husbands, faith, pride, and family. My heart goes out to them.
I couldn't put the book down.
A searing look at a town ruled by sexual oppression and rife with sexual preversion. In riveting detail veteran crime writter jack olsen tells the searing story of a small group of courageous women who decided to bring the doctor to justice and unearth a legacy of pain and anger that would divide their families, neighbors and and entire town
This was written by a relative of mine. A stunning book. One you definitely won't forget.
This is a older book I found in my Mother's closet. I really enjoyed it and found it hard to put down.
This was an easy to read book. It held my interest to the end. It was well written and easy to understand. It opened my eyes to the vulnerability of the human being. The danger of innocense or ignorance whichever you would call it. I prefer to call in innocense. So many of us long to trust, especially those in authority and that is not always a good thing.
For twenty-five years, the trusted family doctor in a small Wyoming town had been raping and molesting the women and children who most relied on him.Mostly Mormons, the naive victims sometimes realized on their wedding nights the truth about what had happened in Dr. Story's office. This is the searing story of a small group of courageous women who decided to bring a doctor to justice -- and unearthed a legacy of pain and anger that would divide their families, their neighbors, and an entire town.
The master of true crime stories relates the incredible tale of a small -town doctor who raped dozens of women for 25 years--and got away with it. Finally a few brave women broke their self-imposed vows of silence to bring him to justice--and to discover that their accusations would shake the community its very foundations
A careful and detailed telling of the case of the psychopathic doctor who took advantage of his position in a small town by molesting and in some cases actually raping the women of this Wyoming community. The author Jack Olsen, is one of the best of all true crime writers. I have found that in his books, nothing is left out, but nothing is overly dramatized either.
In the case of Dr. John Story, it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that this despicable sociopath took advantage of the childlike naivete of the LDS women in Lovell, WY. by using his skills and their amazing trust and respect for him as a man, and a physician, to perform sexual acts upon them, up to and including rape, without them even realizing what was going on. Sounds impossible, but one would have to read a lot about the Mormon women and their faith in order to understand how this could happen. It took many years for someone to speak out, and when they did all hell broke loose! This man should have gone to prison for life. To find out how it all came to its end, you'll have to read the book. It's very good. It also teaches a strong lesson about human nature.
