Dana McCauley (born July 7, 1966 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian chef, food writer, food trend tracker, spokesperson, and international corporate food consultant. Dana is the former food editor for Gardening Life, Homemaker's, and Style at Home magazines. She is currently President of Dana McCauley & Associates Ltd., a company based out of Maple, Ontario that provides services to the food industry including grocery product development, recipe writing and research, food writing and food trend tracking and analysis.
Dana has written three cookbooks: Last Dinner on the Titanic, Noodles Express: Fast and Easy Recipes in 15 to 45 Minutes, and Pantry Raid: Out of the Cupboard Cooking. She has also collaborated on several publishing projects with US etiquette icon Letitia Baldrige and Kennedy Administration White House chef René Verdon.
Dana is the in-house food expert for DineWise, an online gourmet food company. Her fourth book is due out September 2007. It is to be called Dana's Top Ten Table and it is supported by a website that offers free recipes for everyone's top ten favorite dinners.
Dana is often called upon to speak about food trends and opportunities for food manufacturers. She was a featured presenter at Food In Motion and a featured guest speaker at both the Food & Beverage Marketing Conference in Toronto and the Designing and Marketing Food to Boomers Conference hosted by the Guelph Food and Technology Centre. Dana has addressed audiences at the Smithsonian Institution as well as at events held in cities from Honolulu to New York City. She has made hundreds of television appearances on shows such as CNN, Fox News, The Today Show, Breakfast Television, Canada AM, and The Leeza Gibbons Show. Print journalists from publications such as The National Post, the Canadian Press wire service, People Magazine, Newsweek, and USA Today have interviewed Dana about her business and her books.
Dana is celebrated for her expert insights and trend tracking capabilities in the food industry. Her quarterly newsletter called Today's Topline Food Trend is offered as a free subscription.
Dana is also the expert food trend guest on Canada AM.
The Sensory Excellence Program at Dana McCauley and Associates Ltd. oversees recipe testing, recipe development, recipe template creation, and nutrient analysis. Dana and her team work as concept architects with their clients to develop innovative products and successful marketing strategies. Professional Home Economist Amy Snider, author of Fiber Boost, oversees the recipe development practice.
