If you haven't listened to the stories written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, you are really missing great entertainment. Many of the stories have a connection to the Museum of Natural History in New York. And since Douglas Preston worked at the American Museum of Natural History in New York for 8 years, the stories contain a lot of interesting detail and insights.
This is the 6th novel featuring Special Agent Pendergast. If you want to get to know Agent Pendergast you have to start back with book #1, RELIC (which was made into a movie), #2 is RELIQUARY, #3 CABINET OF CURIOSITIES, #4 STILL LIFE WITH CROWS, #5 BRIMSTONE. DANCE OF DEATH is followed by BOOK OF THE DEAD (#7), THE WHEEL OF DARKNESS (#8), and CEMETERY DANCE (#9). Book #10, FEVER DREAM, is due out this year. I started out listening to CABINET OF CURIOSITIES and, now, I really can't wait to listen (or read) the rest of the stories. I find Agent Pendergast do be a most interesting character.
Rene Auberjonois is the narrator on this CD and he does a wonderful job. Some of the other stories are narrated by Scott Brick. They both are have great voices. Sometimes you get stories by the same author, but the narrators are changed. In some cases, this can be very irritating and distracting. But I found that I could listen to either Rene or Scott and thoroughly enjoy the stories.
