This quick-reading children's book (about 4-5th grade reading level)is set in the period of Cro-Magnon man during the European Ice Age. Two tribes meet (through the young hero, Dar)and exchange new inventions - flint for making fire, and spear throwers made from ivory. There is conflict between the older and younger generations, just as there is in modern families.

This is an exciting read about a young Cro-Magnon boy coming of age in Prehistoric France. My son, who is not a great reader, enjoyed it. 118 pp. so it's not intimidating to start and it hooked him quickly.
