The plot of this book is a little jumpy. It generally comes together at the end, but doesn't flow smoothly.

Tara is asked by a secret society of oracles to find a missing scientist. The scientist had disocvered something about dark matter and everyone is looking for the data and for him. Tara uses Tarot to help her in her investigations.

She works with an FBI agent who is on the outs with his boss. That boss used to be her co-worker and he harbors a deep dark secret. Things get complicated.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, there's a member of that secret society who wants to take over, and who is worried that Tara will be the next leader. So she's trying to kill Tara [too].

One of the biggest drawbacks for me is the extensive explanation of what each tarot card shows.

I'm not sure I'm sold on the series but I did put the next book on my wish list.

So, this has so much information at time, my eyes crossed. I was bored. I stuck with this one, because the hero is named Harry and I need this for Ripped Bodice Bingo! I would have liked this better had it not been so damn descriptive. I did like Tara and felt her character was realistic for someone who had been through a trauma and subsequent PTSD. I do wish she had been a less resentful. Harry, was okay.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this when I started to read it but I'm glad I stuck with it. It introduces the 2 main characters & their world right away - I hate when it takes half the book to get a feel for the characters. The plot was on for the most part. Some of the secondary characters were annoying but on the whole I would recommend this book. Can't wait for the next one.
