Lightning is my all-time favorite by Koontz--it's one of my all-time favorites, period.  I've re-read it several times.  I tend to like most of his older stuff more, I think.

My favorite is Watchers about a genetically altered dog.  Very good.

I can't even remember all of his books I've read, but loved The Watchers also.  The movie was terrible IMO and nothing like the story line in the book.

Oh, I have to vote for "Watchers" as well.  It was wonderful!

I also liked "The Taking," but I would start with Watchers.

Be prepared Odd Thomas will make you mad. I put it in the freezer after I read it but looking back it was a good book.

I actually prefer Dean Koontz newer stuff over his old.  I liked the Odd series.  I have the last one, but haven't read it yet.  One other one that I haven't read in ages, but I remember loving when I did was From the Corner of His Eye.

I haven't read any of his stuff either and have been contemplating it...though I don't like Stephen King so if it's anything like that -- I might reconsider.

Valerie I hate King but I love Koontz. Im also a big Bently Little Fan.

Yeah I put the book in the freezer. My niece tells me that a guy on some show did that once. Friends I think. Never watched it and I put my first book in the freezer when I was a kid. Think it was Summer of My German Soldier. Books that make me mad or cry (Odd Thomas did both) go in the freezer. I rescue them quickly though.

I just read one by him that was fantastic.  It's called Soul Survivor and it's about a woman who supposidly survived a plane crashed where all the others onboard perished.

The first one I read by him was a great story.  The main character was Christopher Snow, but I cannot remember the name of the book to save my life.

Wasn't it Joey on Friends that put "Cujo" by Stephen King in the freezer?

Graham.

Lighting is my all time favorite Dean Koontz book as well! I've read it at least a half dozen times over the years!  Watchers is another favorite.   I would start with those, I think.  Strangers is great, with a strange twist at the end. Phantoms scared the cahoonies out of me, but I've read that one several times as well, it's that good.   Intensity is edge of your seat suspense, and the entire book is set over a 24 hour period.  Very well done.   Odd Thomas is good.   His newer ones have not been favorites of mine.

My all time favorite was Lighting, closely followed by Whispers. Whispers will definitely give you the creeps, but it is so GOOD! I also liked Strange Highways & Strangers. I have read all but his two newest, & while his current books are good, I think his earlier books were better. ~~~~~~~~~ ShellyD77, I think you're thinking of Fear Nothing. There is a second book after that called Seize The Night. I really liked those.

I've only read one Dean Koontz book - The Husband. It's not generally the type of book I read, but I liked it ok.

I have read many Dean Koontz books, old & new.  I like the new ones better by far, and of those the best are The Taking and One Door Away from Heaven.  I can't recommend those enough.

Watchers is great! Lightning is also a favorite of mine. I enjoyed the Odd Thomas books. Just finished the third one, Brother Odd.

My first Koontz book was False Memory and I was hooked after that. I love the Odd Thomas series as well, though, I haven't read the last one yet. :)
