Melinda often pour her love into caring for hurt and orphaned animals and sketching the wild deer that live in the woods behind her farm. Unfortunately these things often get her into trouble with her mom and dad who feel that she shirks her duties so she can "tend to her critters." Gabe Swarts loves Melinda and wants to make her his wife, but even he has a hard time understanding why she sometimes seems to prefer the company of her animal friends to him. Worlds collide when Melinda delivers an ultimatum: Gabe must agree to give up hunting, a hobby he loves and believes to be useful, or she won't marry him. Will Melinda and Gabe be able to overcome their differences, or will they end up losing their chance for love and marriage?

I enjoyed this one.
Cute book. Kiept me wondering how it would end.
I really wanted to like this book since I, too, "have a way with animals" but the writing style was immature and if she said something once, she said it a hundred times over. It was so annoying I could not finish reading this book. I wound up scanning it thru the end and called it done. This was my first Brunstetter book and absolutely my last.
Yet another great book by Wand E. Brunstetter. I loved it!
A quick read a very touching story... Melinda already baptized into the church, is confused in what she wants to do... She does have the opportunity and encouragement to continue with her education to become a vet or a vet assistant, so she can take better care of the animals that are dear to her... To do this she would have to leave the Amish faith and be shunned by all she loves... Her family, friends, and her finance. dg
