On of the three Golden Age mysteries written by Hay. The setting is a women's college on the Cherwell River. Four of the college girls are forming a club to curse the Bursar of the college because she is making their lives miserable with all her rules. They are meeting by the river and as they begin their pledges, a canoe comes floating by and at the bottom lies the very dead hated bursar. The police think a student prank got out of hand. The girls call upon their friends from the men's college across the river to help solve the murder and there are plenty of suspects at the college and among the local residents. A very good read.
