This book itself is not "chick lit"- unless you consider a book about a woman written BY a woman instantly chick lit, but that's a problem for somewhere else ;) I loved this book: the main character was smart, hilarious but had very human flaws that kept her actions interesting. As much as I could relate to Lola, you can't help but gape at a woman who wants to solve a string of murders committed against famous chick lit writers mainly so she could get a book deal! I thought the mystery aspect was well done, the relationship Lola had with her husband and friends was very realistic and relatable, and the author's descriptions of New York City were wonderful. There are also lots of very clever references to technology and how much we (well, some of us) now rely so much on things like blogs and multi-function phones.

Apparently this is a sequel to the book "Miss Media" (and is referred to a LOT in this book, though everything is explained so it's not essential to have read that to "get" this one) I'm now dying to read that novel and I really hope Lynn Harris continues writing fiction! Highly recommended, especially if you're sick of "women's contemporary literature" starring shallow, man eating, stick thin blondes with shoe fetishes!
