This beautifully illustrated book has photos worthy of framing and hanging as wall art! Great book for the beginner to floral design as it lists every material you would need to make the arrangement as well as easy to understand written instructions accompanied by a photo. This would also make a great addition to any professional florists collection, as the book contains many unique ideas for arrangements and placement of the finished product. Great for the home decorator as well!
The focus of the book is on traditional arrangements that would be flexible and compatible with Victorian, Country, and other common themes. Types of arrangements include more than just wreaths garlands and topiaries, beautiful maypole topiaries could grace your upcoming special event hung above the table. Many of the more formal arrangements could be toned down for a less dramatic accent.
Materials used in the book are either dried or live flowers, however, one could easily substitute silk flowers instead. Organized both by season and by type of arrangement (Topiary, Wreath, etc.) the layout of the book is simple and easy use.
There is also a very good reference on drying your own materials and what time of year is best to harvest each material.
A few years ago while working as a florist, I amassed MANY books for reference. This Sumptuious hardcover book has a dark lush red fabric on the outside, rather than the standard boring dust cover or leather. Graced with elegant gold tone lettering on the spine the book is wonderful neutral decor just lying about.
In summary, this book is timeless, elegant and the perfect addition to just about ANY library regardless of your gumption to make an arrangement yourself.
