I mailed out a rather large box of books about a week and a half ago. They showed as delivered on 7/28 but as of 8/1 the requester still has not received them. Is there anything that can be done to figure out what happened to them? I'd hate to have this box go lost it had 12 books in it, the requester ordered an entire series from me, and they were in really good condition too.

I don't know it's almost a week now since it was scanned delivered and she still hasn't gotten it. And I've got another book that was scanned delivered almost 2 weeks ago that the receiver hasn't gotten yet, and she's starting to get ticked off and accusing me of never sending it - which is really dumb, 'cause how could there be a DC# showing delivered if I had never sent it to begin with?

Unfortunately, the PO does occasionally deliver a pkg to the wrong address, and the sender gets the shaft.

I just had a book go lost that had USPS DC (not PBS). The PO scanned it when it was delivered, and she never rec'd it. I know sometimes it takes a week or so before the PO actually delivers the pkg, even tho they are not supposed to scan it until delivery, but sometimes they scan it delivered when it is merely at the PO at the end of the line. But, I think mine has been nearly a month, so I am out of luck! I was hoping it would show up eventually.

You can put the DC# into the slot on the front page, Bren, of the USPS site, and it will show you the scans, then click details, and it will give you a bit more specific details that you can send her. Other than that, there is not much you can do, you are just out the books.

The only thing I can suggest is contacting the delivery PO and asking them what's going on.  With DC they aren't supposed to be scanned until they are delivered but I can't vouch for every carrier out there.  The possibility of being delivered to the wrong address is also real and does happen sometimes, even to me.  Bugging the delivery office may get some results and it may not.

The detail a Postal supervisor can get from the scan info includes a scanner ID which will trace it to a particular route and carrier.  Depending on how much time has passed perhaps the carrier will remember the box, expecially if he/she has been on the route for awhile, and where it was delivered.  I've seen this happen, so give it a try.

My package from the PBS July tea swap was shown as delivered but I didn't actually receive it until 11 calendar days later.   I contacted our local PO but the very nice supervisor there had no idea how that happened or where my package was hiding during that 11 days time span.  For the tea swap, I always use my work address and the PO is very responsive, mainly because they deal mainly with business clients instead of residential.  I've found out that our work mail is sorted at the PO and delivered to us in a bin.  My guess is that the person sorting either put it in the incorrect bin and it ended up going to another business before being rerouted back to me.

For Brendon, there is still a chance the box of books will still show up later.

That is a possibility Susan.
