I love being pulled into new worlds created by good writers, and this is one of them!

I've always said that if there were a single piece of fiction that could suddenly become non-fiction, it would have to be Jules Verne's "Journey to the Center of the Earth". Think about it, the earth is actually hollow and the interior is full of strange creatures and even an ocean! Hey - what's not to like about that concept?

This book/audio deals with the discovery that the entire world is riddled with subterranean tunnels that wind their way under every continent and ocean for miles and miles, tunnels filled with semi-demonic humanoid things. You begin to wonder where the author's historically/scientifically based research ends and his wild imagination begins.

This audio is a joy to listen to, I can imagine the product of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells collaborating with Dean Koontz on a scary novel.

I found the characters well developed, the writing of first class caliber, and enough action to satisfy even the most demanding listener. If you listen to this audio, you will not soon forget it.

This was a great read... I couldn't put the book down. I also recommend "Deeper" which is the sequel to The Descent.
I'm looking to read The Ascent next.
