Life is tough in the West and there are evils, including those on two feet. The protagonists have more than their fair share of heartache. But, there is also much beauty and happiness in this story. The heroine is someone that you can cheer for and admire. It is understandable that she gains the respect and love of all who come to know her. Especially Jim Travis, her employer and most ardent admirer, who is everything a man should be. Honest, honorable, very strong, intelligent, virile, protective, gentle when needed, hardworking, not to mention handsome. They are perfect for each other, giving and loving, and they heal each other's wounds, the hardest of which, were planted on them by those who were supposed to love them. All the characters in the story are believable and engaging. I found that the character named Breed I rather fell in love with myself, since he is everything our hero is as well. The story does not ever get boring and moves rather quickly.

Could she escape the sins of yesterday...with the only man she would ever love? March Evans was used to poverty. Born into a sprawling family barely able to keep a roof over their heads, she learned at a tender age how cruel and unjust life could be. And when her own father sold her innocence to the highest bidder, March discovered the true meaning of betrayal...and left her Arizona hometown in scandal, disgrace, and secret sorrow... Then a job keeping house for a wealthy widower and his infant son at their desert ranch gave her the chance to start over. From the moment Jim Travis welcomed her into his home, March knew she was lost. She could no more deny the passion flaring between them than she could stop her lonely heart from yearning for more.
