This is an interesting combination of mystery and science fiction. It's almost like one of the film noirs from the 40's and I could easily imagine the late Robert Mitchum in the role of the Tanner the ex-cop who's seen too much. It's set in a 21st century San Francisco with a touch of Blade Runner and Simon R. Green. You can't wait to find out if the murders will be solved and who will be the next victim. If you like mysteries with complex characters and intelligent plots that don't leave you disappointed (except for the fact that the story has ended) this is a book to savor.

The 1st in the Carlucci trilogy will instill the need to read the 2nd and 3rd installments. I cannot recommend this trilogy highly enough, I only wish there were more than 3 books in the series
