I enjoy Emma Blair's writing and have always enjoyed her books, written about fictional characters in historic Scotland setting, mostly Glasgow. This book plot follows the coming of age years of a young and poor Glaswenian girl who suddenly finds out that she is "rich" and the book follows her most improbably life traumas through the next 10 or so years. The end of the book seemed even more unlikely and left me a little disappointed in Blair's writing after a number of books that did not disappoint. Some may enjoy this book and I'n not sorry to have read it but she has done better.
