I didn't like this series of John Marco's as much as I did his first trilogy. This story promises a lot more than it delivers, IMO. Something about the writing in this book was wrong. It was a "disconnect" from the characters. The characters weren't as "fleshed out" as I would have expected after reading his first trilogy. They seem very shallow and undeveloped. Some characters were developed as much as they should have been given their part of the story, but the main ones ended up being rather boring for the most part. The book needs to be freer flowing than it is to be totally enjoyable for me. It's very wordy and there were times when I'd be wondering when a break in the book - or the end of a chapter would come - that's a bad sign for me. On the other hand there are lots of people who have said they enjoy this book/trilogy.
