I must admit to never reading this book. My college professor husband received it as a reward for some work he did for its publisher. It does define over 4,000 idiomatic expressions, and is perfect for someone trying to relive the 1970s.

cash in, cash crop, cash in hand.... Thus this book is aimed at non-native speakers of American English. In time it may be useful as expressions fade away and someone wants a definition of an archaic phrase, such as cash-and-carry. The promised up date for this edition is two sides of one page that includes many expressions used by over the road truck drivers. Not included are the 'unprintable' expressions that pretty much killed the bottom rungs of ham radio.
whole cheese, whoop-it-up, wise guy....
