It's rare that I think the movie is better than the book. Even so, there are scenes in the book that went straight into the movie. There are differences, as well. The hero in the book (Joe Leland) is divorced and it's his grown daughter in California that he's visiting. The ending is different which did cause tension to rise since I didn't know how it was going to end. Worth reading just to see where Hollywood started.
