This is an amazing memoir, by turns trivial and name-dropping, profoundly insightful, funny and sad. Joe LeSueur takes individual poems by Frank O'Hara and tries to remember where they were and with whom when O'Hara, his roommate of nine and a half years, wrote them. Gay men in New York in the 1950s and 1960s, modern artists, poets and writers--LeSueur places everyone in their varied, exciting social context. If you want to know about out gay life before Stonewall, the postwar art world, or the New York of Mad Men, this is a good book for you.
