This is a book with a political bent to it. Two men who have had to sacrifice and compromise all their lives about their true selves, each living with a woman in order to further their careers. It is painful but beautiful to see their relationship grow over the years, but ultimately decide that career is more important than love. Thankfully, this lasts only a relatively short time before they realize that love is the most important thing of all, and it is worth whatever happens to be with the man they love. I had a little problem with the adultery issue, but the relationship was wonderful. Overall I enjoyed this book very much.

Despite the political setting in Diplomacy, the politics actually add a great deal to the story not detract. Jack and Lucas are both well developed and I felt the issues were real and not over done. The end is a little rushed and clique and the manic antics of Jack's wife a little over the top but it's only a minor deterrent from the story.

I enjoyed this story and thought there could have been more added to it.
