This made-to-tape novel is a "new wave" old-radio style dramatic fiction of some probable events that led up to the advent of a steam-powered airplane, the dogcycle, and the San Francisco Earthquake. Intertwined in these events, one is slowly drawn into the birth of an American being -"The Blues."
Set in a Northern California gold mining community of 1906, the narrator and a troupe of unforgettable souls, relate the story of the town's most memorable period-the spring of 1895.
The resulting aftermath comes from the blending of a variety of unlikely charaters for the period: a disillustioned Buffalo Soldier, an inventor of unexplainable controptions, an enterprising brothel piano player, and a town on the downhill slide to oblivion.
