Seattle police detective Leah Harris has investigated homicides like this before. The brutal stabbing death of a female college student points to a jealous lover...until clues lead Harris to believe that this murder was too carefully planned to be a crime of passion. And then the photograph of a fellow officer, Harris's lover, is found at the scene.

Enter Internal Affairs investigator Frank Milkovich. A former Narcotics cop, Milkovich brings his own experience to the crime scene and uncovers a bizarre new twist in the case--one million dollars in cash underneath the floorboards.

Harris is looking for the killer, Milkovich for the conspiracy. But as darkness falls, their separate motives become meaningless. A trail of blood and betrayal leads them to a plot that reaches far beyond the Seattle Police Department. And only Harris and Milkovich have the means to bust it wide open -- if they can get through this day alive.

Enjoyable police procedural. I am about to read the second n the series, and am disappointed to find that after 3 years he has not written anything else.
