Author: Rex Lardner
Humor. Writes the author in his beginning paragraph: "There are cynical souls who say the devil was abroad in the land on a long-ago day in the middle of the fifteenth century when some unknown genius, irked at the world and filled with hatred for his fellowman, invented the game of golf."

Chose to read this book for a challenge because several people I know like to play golf. Maybe I should understand a little about it since I don't play the game. The book's historical background about golf, comments about professional players, and explaining the terms were interesting. I did not care for the tongue-int-cheek humor which seemed to be repeated which is not necessary for a book of this length. However, people who play golf may feel differently.
