Typical Turtledove, hard to put down.

This installment of Turtledove's alternative history (CSA wins the Civil War) takes place in the 1940s as the USA & CSA continue to be embroiled in conflict. This is not the place to begin reading the series, but if you've read the earlier books (How Few Remain, American Front, Walk in Hell), I highly recommend it.
