They finally reach Darwin after several encounters with their Japanese pursuers. Here they are persuaded to join the "Coast Watchers" before being allowed to return to England. Now part of a special unit Drake learns new skills and sees action in the Mediterranean, including the invasion of Sicily. Further action follows in the "D" Day landings before he finally goes with his unit to prepare for the re-taking of Malaya. The invasion of Malaya is postponed and with the end of the War he finds himself on the Island of Penang as the Japanese finally surrender.
