With such a horrible title, I don't know why I liked this book as much as I did. It's kind of a silly story, rather implausible in some respects, and has a villain who does everything but hiss and "me fair beauty" at the heroine. But I did. Perhaps it's because the hero, a 40-something man (of course he's a duke -- the marketing department will have its way), is a father who loves his two daughters (yet allows them to gallivant around Europe without him) and has a touching loyalty to the memory of their long dead mother. I do like a man who understands loyalty, and they're getting as scarce in fiction as they are in real life. I'm not a Harlequin historicals fan -- their stringent rules sometimes squeeze all the life out of a tale -- but I did enjoy this one.
