Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Book Recipes:

Ingredients
  • 1 cup - all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups - sugar, or to taste
  • 3 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 pinch - salt
  • 1 cup - milk
  • 4 cups - peeled, pitted, thinly sliced peaches (5-6 medium)
  • 1 T, - fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup - unsalted butter, melted
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Pour melted butter into a 9x13 baking dish.

Mix flour, 1 cup of the sugar, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Add milk and stir till just combined. Pour this batter over the butter in the baking dish but don't stir together.

Combine peaches, the remaining cup of sugar, and the lemon juice in a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Pour peaches over batter in dish, but don't stir together.

Shake cinnamon and/or nutmeg over the top if desired. Bake 40-45 minutes or till the top is golden-brown.

Notes

This smells like heaven while it's baking and after you take it out of the oven! I recommend using cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg on the top--it really adds a lot!

I have searched the web for a good peach cobbler recipe, and tried a few but they weren't very good. This is the first time I've seen a recipe where you cook the fruit with the sugar. Makes sense!! I am going to make this verrrry soon. I think I have finally arrived at peach cobbler excellence! Thanks!!

I've used this recipe. It does smell sooo good, and the taste is better if you use butter vanilla nut flavoring.
