The subtitle is a little misleading. This is mainly a history of flat earthers and their intersection with other conspiracies, with small sections dealing with the why, fallout, and what now. It does discuss "why people will believe anything" but it isn't the main portion.

That said, I thought the history was in depth and extremely interesting. I don't regret learning more about it.
