A nonfiction story of the "most gigantic sporting swindle in the history of America!" Eliot Asinof has recontructed the entire story in this "...admirable journalistic feat!" -The New York Times

A MUST READ for every baseball fan. The fix is on! The 1919 world series fix influenced the history of baseball today in very important ways including the establishment of the office of commissioner. More than that though, this book is a window into the past of Baseball as it was played in its early mythological period. It is also a great scandal story. Fortunes were won and lost, lives destroyed, and America's pass-time on the brink of destruction. How exciting! Alot better than the lame move version.

Such an excellent in-depth view of the 1919 World Series "fix" by eight players on the Chicago White Sox team. It's tragic what their decisions did to their lives and tragic that others responsible - the gambling bosses and even their own team owner - were barely affected. "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." Fascinating read!
