ELRIC OF MELNIBONE:
Unfortunately, this story does start out slow due to the typical conflict within monarchies over who thinks they should be in power.

Elric is a little disappointing because he's unprepared and gullible when it actually comes down to dealing with reality even though he give the impression of being wise. In truth, he leaves himself wide-open for betrayal, and when it happens, he acts surprised and then has such a change of character that it's overly-dramatic.

Much of the story is predictable, but at least it's fast-paced so no a lot of time is spent wasted between scenarios. This actually helped keep me interested in finishing the book and deciding to read the next one.

SAILOR ON THE SEAS OF FATE:
How many times is Elric going to just give up and "accept death"? It seems like there's a pattern of playing the victim with this guy... "Uh-oh, something has gone wrong, so I'll just sit here and wait to die"... Yeesh!

This story, like the first in the series moves along quickly, so don't expect a lot of character depth or a strong plot. If you read it with the expectations of a short-story or fairy-tale, you probably won't be disappointed.

THE WEIRD OF THE WHITE WOLF:
I got a third of the way through this one before deciding that I can no longer stand the series or the lead character, Elric. The guy is an idiot who continues to set himself up for betrayal. I rolled my eyes so many times from what I did read, that I may suffer from double-vision for awhile. I'm officially done with this series because it's just not worth my time.

reviewed The Elric Saga Part I: The Sailor on the Seas of Fate / The Weird of the White Wolf on
This is a collection of the first 3 Elric books: Elric of Melnibone, The Sailor of the Seas of Fate, and The Weird of the White Wolf. Great stories, very easy to read, short but still seem substantial. Nice read for new fans of fantasy/Moorcock but sure to please fans of the classics of this genre as well.
