Wow!  I just finished this book.  I highly recommend it!  About a little girl whose mother has married an abusive man.  Told in an eight-year-olds voice.  I won't say much because I don't want to give it away!  It's by Elizabeth Flock who also wrote But Inside I'm Screaming, which was also really good.  There are copies available of Me & Emma!

I have this book in my massive TBR pile...looks like I will be getting to it sooner rather than later. Glad you liked it. I love to hear from people about books they have enjoyed.

Yeah, it was jaw-dropping.  I got some serious chills when I found out what happened.

I wasn't smart enough to guess the ending so was a shock to me but then thats why I liked it so much! Would like to read more books by that author.  Are there any listed on here?

Last I checked But Inside I'm Screaming was available.  As far as I know those are her only two.  I wasn't smart enough to guess the ending.  I HAD started to see some things that made me wonder what was going on but I just figured I had missed something previously.  I went back and looked over the book again and it does all make sense now.

OK, apparently there is another...Everything Must Go, but it's not available on PBS and there's no description.

After Me & Emma, I went on the read Come Back by Claire and Mia Fontaine, a memoir of a mother and her daughter  (that had been abused by her father) who had battled addiction in her early teens.  What a fabulous book!  I wasn't sure I could handle it but it was so inspiring!  FYI...there is a Target edition (mine is already requested) that has a very short wish list, the other edition is longer.  ISBN is 9780061373206 or 0061373206

I loved Me & Emma also. I had requested it from the library because I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it. As soon as I was done, I went and got a copy!

Yes, I was totally blown away by the ending also!  I was not expecting it at all.  I had to go back and reread some of it.

This book stayed with me for a long time.  It really moved me.

Has anyone else noticed that the official title of this book isn't Me & Emma, although the cover looks like it is?

Yes, if you look at the cover it does look like that.  But if you look it up in the system, or on Amazon, it's different.  I think it's intentional.

Because of this thread, I dug the book out of my tbr pile and I was absolutely blown away by the ending.  I thought I was so smart with figuring it out and I wasn't.  I'm still thinking about it and I've read 3 books since then.  Great book!!!

I just finished reading Me and Emma and I highly recommend it.  I definitely didn't send the end coming at all!  A must read :)

It was amazing, and very disturbing.  One of the best I've read dealing with this subject matter.
