I have picked up the first 10 in this series for my grandson. He enjoys them. I am hoping to find the last 3 listed before he finishes these. So far he says they are a 4 out of 5 rating.

The Baudelaire orphans live for a time in the world's largest penthouse with a shallow, self-absorbed woman and her well-meaning but clueless husband.

This installment in the series had some twists that genuinely surprised me. But the Baudelaires do some pretty unbelievable things. You really have to suspend disbelief to enjoy this one.

Please let your children read these books. Even as young as second grade will benefit from the writing style and the need to make crucial inferences with the storylines. These books are good for your kids' brains, parents. Excellent books!

A delightful read steeped in sarcasm, cynicism, witticism, and a number of other isms that add up to a great installment in the Series of Unfortunate Events. Younger readers and adults will both be able to appreciate the humorous tone with which the Beaudelaire orphans are exposed to and react to the events unfolding around them. A fun, easy read that even finicky readers might have trouble putting down.

Dear Reader,
If you have just picked up this book, then it is not too late to put it back down. Like the previous books in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, there is nothing to be found in these pages but misery, despair, and discomfort, and you still have time to choose something else to read.
Within the chapters of this story, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway, and parsley soda.
I have sworn to write down these tales of the Baudilaire orphans so the general public will know each terrible thing that has happened to them, but if you decide to read something else instead, you will save yourself form a heapful of horror and woe.
