This made me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes, so definitely recommended if you are looking for a fun read to make you feel better about your own family dynamics. It is not particularly Christmasy, and those who take their religion very seriously may not appreciate all the moments of levity, but the rest of the world can enjoy the Baumgartners.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Evergreen Tidings from the Baumgartners by Gretchen Anthony in December even though - or because - a good deal of the plot doesn't involve Christmas.
Violet Baumgartner is a woman striving for perfection in every area and wants everyone to appreciate her perfect life. What happens when things take a not-quite-perfect turn? Hilarity ensues! There are several physical comedy scenes in this novel worthy of Chevy Chase - I'd love to see them acted on stage or screen. But this story is far more than a bunch of great laughs. Characters (and people) are usually far more complex than they appear.
Ms. Anthony is releasing her second novel in May 2020 and it's on my reading radar.
