I really enjoyed this book. I think you need to be a certain age (over 40) to really appreciate this book. A definite read.

Another realistic contemporary novel about marriage by author, Elizabeth Buchan. 2 parallel stories: 1)42 yearold married mother of 2 adult children, and 2) 35 year old married woman with no children and this is her second marriage. Excellent writing--very comtemporary. Clean language.

Barbara Beeching and Siena Grant and the life altering choices they are facing are familiar and real to us, although there are 40 years between them. The characters are well drawn and believable; we'd like to have coffee with these women. This is another of Elizabeth Buchan's winning, intelligent novels.

The title "EVERYTHING SHE THOUGHT SHE WANTED" refers to two women and the never ending quest to define "everything." Husbands, Love, Career, Passion, Excitement,--a constant reminder that the "grass isn't always greener on the other side, or is it?
This novel is an excellent choice for a Book club, with a reading guide and interview with the author at the end of the book.

A real surprise ending. You end up really having empathy for the characters. Great listen

I enjoyed this book. At first I liked the modern day character more but as the book went on I got so I wanted to hear more about the character from the 50's. I listed to a lot of books on tape in the car. This one was easy to follow and pick up where I left off.
