'Intelligent design', which Deloria flogs here, is simply a version of creationism, giving the lie to his rhetorical distancing of himself from that disreputable tradition. Deloria, in common with the bulk of creationists, shows no grasp of the science he criticizes. He's attacking a straw man. I love Deloria's political writings, but he rather makes a fool of himself here.
