Exception to Murder - Mark Shigata, Bk 4 Author:Anne Wingate When city councilwoman Margaret Ruskin is found dead and mauled in the alligator pit of ArkPark, a newly opened religious theme park in Bayport, Texas, Police Chief Mark Shigata decides to look into past and pending city legislation to see if there's anything there that might have provoked her murder. It doesn't take long, however, for o... more »ther lines of inquiry to open.
Ruskin had opposed the opening of the park, but its developer, the Rev. Clifford Hobby, believes that the murder was the action of someone who wanted to discredit not only ArkPark but Hobby's proposed television ministry as well.
Then there's Sergeant Steve Hansen's friend Ralph Miner, an animal rights activist whose most recent stunt was rescuing ArkPark's seals by turning them loose in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Perhaps he was offended by Ruskin's flagrant display of alligator shoes and bags.
Hansen scoffs at this suggestion, but it will take the pooled resources of Shigata, Hansen, and Shigata's right-hand man, Al Quinn, to discover who took enough exception to Margaret Ruskin's continued existence that feeding her to the alligators was an acceptable solution.« less
