I would only pick up this book as a reference into the types of dog training done years ago, it was the book that introduced me to the world of competitive obedience training and I will always remember it fondly for that reason, but these training methods basically ruined my first dog, and I have in years since learned more positive methods of training and gone on to much success in various canine sports. There's very little in here that I would ever recommend to dog owners today, but a love of the sport of obedience does still come through and I still love the photos of her shepherds working and loving what they do, dogs that hadn't been so overbred as far too many GSDs today are that they can barely walk let alone jump like these.
