There are three stories in this book. The first, and by far the longest, is an entertaining story about a planned assassination of the Emperor of Austria. There are a lot of plot twists in this one.

The second, concerning "Bertie," the Prince of Wales, you might want to skip. I found it boring.

The final one, the shortest, has a very old enemy of Flashman trying to get his revenge. The only interest in this one is two other characters who briefly appear, and, if you are well read in Conan Doyle's stories, you'll remember the episode in his books. But I didn't care for the reveal concerning Flashman's relative at the very end of the story.

However, in the last two stories, Flashman finally gets his comeuppence for his randy behavior throughout his life.

Flashman is a comic, cad and bounder... a heroic anti-hero.
