Takashi Arai is forced to leave Japan in disgrace and becomes a migrant laborer. While in America, he has his picture taken, not knowing that it will be used to lure unsuspecting Japanese women to America who are then forced to become prostitutes. The Picture Bride business proves to be quite lucrative for the pimps. One day, one of the women named Kikue, runs into Takashi, her supposed husband-to-be whose picture was used to lure her to America. She attempts to get him to take her away from her brothel but Takashi has no idea why and is drunk. Kikue, the woman he encountered, then makes a plan to exact revenge on him. Kikue shows herself to be one of the smarter women hoodwinked and soon is skimming money and her situation changes somewhat. Now she has the means to trick Takashi. The story was not bad, a bit confusing with Takashi lapsing into "dreams." I found the ending a bit strange.
