Short old fashioned story. Nice read for a day at the beach.

Illustrated with photos from the 1893 Columbian Exposition/Chicago World's Fair. Three children and their ornry gramps travel to Chicago for the Fair and to visit their widowed aunt/daughter. All have life-changing experiences. A great companion to Devil in the White City.

Not as interesting as "A long way from Chicago" or "A year down yonder", and it took a while for me to get interested, but once it got going it was a very engaging story with a touching ending.

Richard Peck is a wonderful author who delights Adults and children alike with his imaginative stories! Try A Year Down Yonder and A Long Way From Chicago! They are my favorites.

This is a childrens book rich in history about the 1898
Chicago World's fair that is the background story of "The Devil in the White City," without the evil Holmes.

This world fair had the very first "ferris wheel," and the book explains how it came to be. Most children would enjoy it (and adults, too!)
