Incredible. I couldn't put the book down. The flow of the story immerses you thoroughly. This book presents a fairly realistic background of France during the occupation and the struggles of so many against the Third Reich. The twist is unexpected and dark. The epitome of human scheming and deviousness, to deceive and obfuscate. Though at the end, you could understand why it was necessary but still I couldn't help wanting to get my hands around the throat of a particular British soldier in the story. A must read!

With a single phone call, Kathleen Donahue's perfect world fell apart. Her husband's lover told her things that shocked her, humiliated her and proved that her marriage was a horrible lie. But because of Brien Donahue's senatorial ambitions, divorce was out of the question. The scandal had to be covered up-much like the scandals that her brother, Bishop James Leary, was hiding for the Church.
