It is really interesting to read this author's imagination of biblical accounts! It made (for me) Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel so much more *real* to me. I really enjoyed this novel, however, I really didn't care for how it was written "backwards"--starting from the murder and ending with the banishment. I would recommend this novel.

This was a compelling story about Cain, Abel, Adam, Eve and the rest of the family. I liked how the story went backwards in time starting with Cain's imminent death and ending with Adam and Eve leaving the Garden of Eden. I also liked how David Maine stretched out the story line so that Cain's offering being rejected isn't followed immediately by his murdering Abel.

Very interesting take on the story of Caine and Abel, Adam and Eve. A bit tedious towards the end, but very intriguing.
