This book is interesting, has interesting characters, and just the right pace to it. The main character is awesome, and his companions in the story are also believable but at the same time extraordinary and enigmatic. It gives you a bit of background and understanding of the Eldar and their motivations not found anywhere else. One of my favorites of the old WH40K books. William King is an excellent writer. Sadly, this story leaves you sort of hanging, thinking there should have been a sequel to it, but the writer quit writing for Black Library/Games Workshop and never continued the series. Still, it's well worth reading as a stand-alone novel, and one of King's best in the 40k world.
