Eddie Watkins was 16 when he pulled his first robbery. The place was a local grocery store, and Eddie's accomplice was his cousin Jo. At 18, Jo was a stunning blonde with a body that had developed long before its time. She went into the store ahead of Eddie and bought two cans of beans.
Eddie put a carton of milk in front of one of the two clerks, then asked for a pouch of chewing tobacco. As the clerk turned away, he whipped out his pistol.
"Make one sound and your heads come off," he said.
While the clerks stuffed the cash into a paper bag, Eddie grabbed Jo and told them, "You creeps yell and this little lady gets blown away."
It was all so easy. With a bag of money in one hand and Jo's arm in the other, Eddie bustled out to the car and drove away. All the way down the street they listened for sirens, but there weren't any. Eddie pulled off his hat and Jo threw her arms around him.
